"Tarzan in Manhattan" was the pilot for an unsuccessful proposed television series. It was directed by Michael Schultz in 1989 and starred Joe Lara as Tarzan. Kim Crosby played Jane Porter, a New York cab driver with a degree in computers; Tony Curtis played Archimedes (Archie) Porter, a private investigator; and Jan-Michael Vincent played Brightmore, a crooked millionaire with an interest in animal vivisection.

Joe Lara returned several years later in "Tarzan: The Epic Adventures", a feature-length pilot for a successful television series of the same name.

  • SERIOUSLY ?

  • Sorry, another pretty good Barker film is "Tarzan's Peril" which has a truly despicable villian and a cute Jane.

  • @pwgr2000 Thank you will buy those soon

  • Sorry, I'm not clairvoyant, but hopefully there is a dusty copy buried at the back of a shelf somewhere - maybe Istanbul, maybe Rio de Janeiro, maybe Wabash.

All of the Lex Barker and Mike Henry films are pretty mediocre, but "Tarzan and the Valley of Gold" is a few notches above the other two - it has good locales and a good villain. For Barker I am fond of "Tarzan and the Slave Girl" because it is very campy; and it has lots of attractive women in harem outfits and sarongs.

  • @pwgr2000 Do you think we will ever see THE ROMANCE OF TARZAN-THE REVENGE OF TARZAN-TARZAN THE MIGHTY and TARZAN ESCAPES (first production) before we die? What are the best Lex Barker and Mike Henry movies you recommend

    Take it easy pwgr2000

  • @pwgr2000 I knew when I typed TARZAN IN MANHATTEN and TARZAN THE EPIC ADVENTURES I'd see your name :) I just bought TARZAN THE FEARLESS-REVENGE-THE TRAPPERS-THE APEMAN (81..I KNOW I KNOW) THE LOST CITY -THE NEW ADVENTURES and OF THE APES (1918) I still need sooo many like GREATEST ADVENTURE. Question what are the best Lex Barker and Mike Henry to buy and do you think we will ever see ROMANCE OF TARZAN-THE REVENGE OF TARZAN-TARZAN THE MIGHTY?

  • Isn't it illegal to have Kim Crosby in a movie and not have her sing? ;D

  • He was hot in gunsmoke the last apache....but cant find clips of it anywhere on youtube 'meh'!!
