how terrific. I so remember that staircase, and the smell of the engines. Thanks for the video, hope to ride the old girl again some day.

Whats going on with these boats today restored ??

The Detroit Princess isn't a converted Bob-lo Boat. She was a casino boat.

Yes The Steam Engine is still in working order she was turned over but hand about a year and a half ago also has been looked at by engineer's. But the boilers need replacing.

I was happy to find out that this fine lady of the Detroit River, was built before the Titanic and still thrives today....
I would love to experience the cruise on the river once again, under her own power, and enjoy her moving through the international waters between the US and Canada! (Minus the ghost stuff I had seen while the St Claire was docked in Windsor about 5 years ago...)

Don't the Stained glass windows look great! I worked with two others for a whole day stripping off 8 layers on paint and restored them back to their original state. The stair case walls were professionally refinished by Mike Lens. The rails were taken down and buffed and replaced by Al Poe. I painted the steps and gold runner stripping. Wish the rest of the boat looked this great! So many volunteers, no hands on work..

Thanks for the info.
Thanks briandonald. The Detroit River Princess is not related to the Bob Lo Boats.
The Ste Claire is docked near Chene Park not too far from the GM building.
The Columbia is docked in Ecourse still waiting her fate.
Thanks again for your comments.

The Columbia was purchased by a group from New York and will be restored there and used for educational purposes as well as for cruises.
