I live in Lincoln, which is where this song originates from. Little Sir Hugh was a choir boy playing around The Jew's House / the castle with a ball and was killed when he went to fetch his ball. The well is probably Widow Cullen's Well on Steep Hill, which sells local beer. The Bishop of Lincoln recently added a plaque in the Cathedral for any anti-semitism historically from the Christian community of Lincoln, although there's no evidence of that in the song.

I notice that your nastiness is being exposed on all sorts of Maddy Prior videos, and you seem to seriously need some sort of psychiatric help. Even if it is just your twisted way of having fun, it's really pathetic. Especially when taking into account that you've been going on like this for a year or so. @atfatw She has had cancer in her nose, Do not know prognisis, or progress. She was keeping a blog. She is a beautiiful woman with a voice with adds the S to Steeleye Span.
