this is the Go Kart i built in welding class my junior year. still working on it but this is what i got done so far. built everything by hand only used a table saw, hand saw, plasma cutter, acetylene torch, and a hand grinder. the type of welder i used was a miler mig welder. it took me a long time because it was broke and it kept bird nesting on me. so i used the other miller and it worked perfect yes i do know how to change and set up the welder.
I put a Yamaha 540 snowmobile motor in it still got to get the jetting right in it.
yes i do know the tires look small but i already got $450 in it already plus the motor but i got that for free (thanks uncle jay)
i didn't have any thing to put angles on so i made it all by hand that is the front A-arms. and im not done with the roll cage and pedals and a little electrical also got to fix the exhaust leak. the go kart has 11 inches of travel in the front and 10 1/2 in the rear. but it sags down wen you get in and when you lift it up because the motor weights 85+ and i tried to keep the suspension soft but not to soft so that it worked unlike most karts it has suspension but is still extremely bumpy. mine you can see the suspension work i rolled it down a hill and it just goes up and down workin so sweet!!!

please rate and comment but no hatters. i have some serious time in this thing and i really don't want people saying its a piece.

  • Might want to invest in some bigger tires, but looks cool

  • @xxPOLARISx yep i did lol leveled out the a arms and got even more travel with no toe kick in and out with travel now im impressed with this cart lol

  • Tighten the suspension, bigger tires, fix belt tension because your secondary engages too soon (it should not engage until you are in it giving it gas and ready to go), I like the hand fabrication though, very nice work.

  • @Matt072694 yea ji re ran all my chains now i got the a new motor liquid cooled 470 ski doo motor and a tra clutch and got the secoundary now got a chain from the jack shaft with the sec. to another jack shaft that is in front of the swing arm with another chain going to the rear axle its a slick set up and works great. doing finishing touches for safety lol like a bucket seat and 5 point harness

and the roll cage is done the cart looks alot different now looks small in this vid

  • Hey pal you take that engine off and put it back in your Yamaha sled

  • exhaust looks rich

  • Dude get real shocks that's going to feel like shit hiting small bumps. Ud b suprized how much bettr it would be with stronger shocks

  • You're not gonna live very long driving that thing terrible build

  • needs a thicker frame bad!!

  • its a pos

  • 2 things, suspension too soft, and wheels to small. that's it.

  • that wont work because its chain drive and the shocks will make the chain come off when you hit bumps... now if you put the engine down by the sprocket it will work.

  • dude thats to much motor for those tires. Better be careful.

  • Read about two stroke engines, they have these things called reed valves, that are very fragile
