A burglar who was caught on CCTV stealing a laptop from student accommodation has been jailed for more than two years.
Peter Shaw, of Nidderdale, Wollaton, forced a window of a student room in Lenton Hall Drive before climbing in and snatching the computer.
The 19-year-old, who admitted the burglary at a previous hearing, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday 7 October 2011 to 876 days in prison.
He had already served 143 days on remand which will count towards his sentence.
People can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime by taking a few simple steps.
• Ensure all windows and doors on properties and vehicles are locked and secure when unattended.
• Remove all valuables from view when leaving vehicles or property.
