I tried connecting a sounder and call point to a battery but the alarm continuously sounds regardless of whether the callpoint is activated or not. Any ideas why? The wires all seem to be in the right places. Is it because I should use a proper power supply?
@MrMattmgw Ok then, what call point are you using? If it is an addressable callpoint, it will not work with a battery and a standard sounder. Also, what are the terminal points labelled?
@sonconmas Definatley conventional, says so on the label too. Its a cooper/fulleon make. Theres two common negative terminals and 2 positive ones labelled 680R. Thanks
@MrMattmgw Ok then, you can try placing the power supply positive into the negative and positive out in the positive terminal, leaving negative unswitched. Or, you can just try wiring as you did, without negative. If none of these work, the call point may be damaged. Do the call point terminals spark when you place the positive and negative in their terminals? Also what power supply are you using?
