OCTOBER AIR

1. I should not have to forget you, dream,
though the life in fog falls apart
you were only a distant song that I wanted to retain
Today you are in essence on my temples in bird heart beats

2. We go towards the sea where some time ago
they wait for the infinite waves and the Sun
It looks for us across the haze
We go up to the heart of the water from an October air
up to feeling in our eyes that something is lasting
We go towards that one tiny eucalyptus,
little green sailor that will be glad when we arrive
We go even to the landscape's more hidden places
where the things are dark as our sleeplessnesses
We go up to the sea because from a long time ago
a dream is waiting for your smile and mine to bloom

3. This fog that rises of my chest
And you go away
The sadness of the most intimate minutes
And you go away
You who really existed through a music
a poor music that comes with the evening air
It seems to me that you come but you go away

4. I did not want you to die
I did not
I did not want you to go away
The night was invaded by stars
No, the night and the stars
No, the death and the stars
No, the nothing and the fireflies

5. Everything makes me remember
Your big fixed eyes
The music in the night
Your big fixed eyes
The trip towards the sea, the bird, the door
Your big fixed eyes
The spider in a corner
The key of your door walking at your arm
The light of your window
The ring bell of my house
The moon was looking at us
Your big fixed eyes
Your big fixed eyes

6. Yes, my blood was looking for you
beyond the night
and I finally found you
behind that late afternoon that we believed ours
and that went to the sea that hides the landscapes
and guards them endlessly every day
We did not know that then
You were as yesterday
Nothing had changed your face
and I felt in my hands
as in a miracle
that even out of the time
you have been always mine as now

7. I went until October looking for you
But I did not find you
There was your shape and your eyes
But you were not
There was only the blow of the sea
on the sand

8. I have found you again yesterday, dream
It was walking along the broad street
I was returning and suddenly the evening got surprised
You were coming from such a distant landscape of sources and doves
What happiness to find you knowing that you had died

AIRE DE OCTUBRE

4. Yo no quería que murieras
Yo no quería
Yo no quería que te fueras
La noche fue invadida por estrellas
No, la noche y las estrellas
No, la muerte y las estrellas
No, la nada y las luciérnagas

5. Todo me recuerda
tus grandes ojos fijos
La música en la noche
tus grandes ojos fijos
Tus grandes ojos fijos
tus grandes ojos fijos
tus grandes ojos fijos

7. Fui hasta octubre a buscarte
pero no te hallé
Eran tu forma y tus ojos
Pero tú no estabas
Había sólo el golpe del mar
sobre la arena

8. He vuelto a encontrarte ayer, sueño

  • Thank you for sharing those nice and sweet pictures of your parents !

  • @parlophonman I am glad you enjoyed the pics, Daniel. My father of course wrote the songs and my mother sung them. They are both relevant personalities in the Uruguayan classical music scene, my father as composer of 150 musical works and artistic director of SODRE (kind of Uruguayan BBC) and director of the Conservatory for more than a decade, my mother as singing teacher. Juan Protasi was an outstanding pianist and conductor and Rafael Casal Muñoz a great poet !
