Episode 68: Are you sirius, XM?

I've been a big fan of satellite radio since both XM and Sirius debuted, and am a subscriber to both services. But with the recent merger of the two, I find that it's time to reevalute the situati...

You are not overreacting at all! The changes are beyond pathetic! My favorite channels used to be Ethel, Lucy, Fred, The City, and The Torch....these are all gone---and the new replacements are too poppy for me. I can get this same garbage over the air on regular FM..

I'd like to see an Internet satellite radio service be developed for cars, using the same stereo equipment i have now.

I am still pissed about the changes.

As for Mel... bleh.. did you happen to see the article about him on Reuters?
Look for "Mel says lost Sirius/XM channels worth every penny - to bottom line"

Mel: You as a subscriber, though you may miss your channel, you need to make sure we make money because you want us to be around so we can invest in programming and we can provide you with all these services.

He also told someone who was upset with the loss of The Rhyme, that "We have other hip hop channels".

He has no clue!

Also they told me that if I liked The Rhyme, I'd like Hip Hop Nation... WTF??!

Well then they tell me that 70s on 7 does a weekly disco show. Well guess what? One of our FREE FM stations does that too!
They also tell me that Hip Hop Nation has a weekly old school show. Well guess what else has that? Yup, FM! FOR FREE!

One thing about this channel merge, is it's gotten me to discover podcasts. Fortunately, a lot of shows I liked on The System are available as podcasts, again, for free!

with all the repeats? The mix shows are repeated like 4 times during the week, and the songs are repeated 2 or 3 times a day! Every time I get in the car, Area is playing the same song as it was when I got out of the car just a couple of hours before.

The Move played house - no replacement
The Rhyme played old school rap - no replacement
and you know about Chrome.

What I find funny is that they told me that I'll like 70s on 7 and Groove if I liked Chrome. THEY'RE NOT THE SAME AT ALL!

The merged lineup is HORRIBLE!
Not only did it happen without an official word from Sirius XM (BIG MISTAKE WITH A SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE!!!), but it just doesn't make sense!
We were told that it was done to remove "redundant channels", but I found that to be the opposite!

Some of the channels I liked were Chrome, The System, The Move, and The Rhyme.

Well now our trance channel is gone, and in its place we get Area, which seems to be more like BPM2. It is slowly getting better, but what's
