Chief Illiniwek was not a real person, he was a representation of the Illini Confederation--a group of tribes that inhabited lands around the Illinois region. I cry everytime i see this, why did this have to end, nothing but honor to the great Native Americans who originally inhabited this land, everybody loved the Chief, kids wanted to be him, the dance is so Majestic i was captured by it every time, but no matter how much u try to get rid of it the Spirit of the Chief will live on. Every basketball game at Assembly Hall and every football game at Memorial Stadium people will Yell out Chief when the Marching Illini start the Three-In-One up!
