  • Motorcyclists, let me just tell you guys something... I'm not trying to be a dick or tell others what to do either, i'm just worried about you guys.

    1) Saving a little time off your trip just isn't worth taking this risk (legal or illegal)

    2) A huge amount of people are just bad drivers, and trust me on this... eventually some asian woman on a cell phone (the perfect storm) will accidentally lane drift over just enough to clip you. At this speed you're lookin at a 100 foot+ slide on concrete.

  • @ForeverWikkid Oh, so you'd like to seriously injure and possibly kill someone because they chose to ride a motorcycle and do something perfectly legal while you're stuck in traffic?

  • @Zdolshin you fool, thats like condemning a pack of lions for eating a gazelle because a gazelle happened to have wondered into a pack of lions. and dumbass, i am a biker, ive lane split, and i wont ask for any kind of pity if i get killed doing something stupid like lane split. i accept that it is a dangerous world, just like he does. and for fucks sake, learn to take a joke!

  • @Zdolshin you are a dumbass. lol. lane splitting is only legal in cali. and in cali, if the motorcyclist who is lane splitting gets into any kind of accident with another person (doesn't matter who caused it) the motorcyclist is at fault. thats cali law. so no, i would not get a number of infractions. if anything, he would

  • THIS IS THE WAY OF DRIVING MOTORCYCLE IN GREECE AND IN MANY EUROPEAN COUNTRIES ! NOBODY STAYS BEHIND THE CARS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.YOU MUST LOOK INSIDE THE CAR FOR THE DRIVER FOR ANY REACTION OR MOVEMENT TO CHANGE LANE !CAR DRIVERS NOT GET MAD BECAUSE IS USUAL.ITS ALSO DANGEROUS BUT YOU MUST TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY IF SOMETHING HAPPENED.

  • @crapatitus and if you caused some biker that was in an emergancy to come to injury or even die. I am sure that you would feel differently about cutting bikers off when they are lane splitting. Yeah it could happen on accident, but you would be intentionally causing more danger to that biker's life and probably his livelyhood. My fam depends solely on me and the income I bring in. That's 7 people. I'm not sure you would feel so great about taking the father of 5 children. Or ...?

  • @crapatitus because you causing an accident by pulling in front of a biker that is lane splitting in any state would mean that you:

    1. gave less than 100ft signaling notice

    2. intentionally caused a road hazard to another motorist

    3. (if the biker is injured) used your vehicle as a weapon

    4. (if the biker dies) guilty of vehicular manslaughter

Those 4 are enough to think twice about "causing a motorcyclist to slow down" by intentionally swerving out in front of their path.

  • @Zdolshin why would i get a number of infractions?

  • @inmaniak so youre argument is basically:

    1) its not worth it because its not safe

    2) its not safe

NICE ARGUMENT! as a motorcyclist i have a few arguments too:

    1) going at slow speeds can be safe (and is legal in cali) since you have plenty of reaction time

    2) lane splitting reduces traffic congestion (which is partly why it is legal in cali) since bikes are basically eliminated from taking part in the lanes

    3) bikes arent air conditioned, so give bikers a break

    basically, why you bitchin?

  • @inmaniak I'm probably not quite as reserved as you on this, but yeah using common sense and better judgment does come into play. As we can see there are many people that are on here thinking that it's just plain ok for a car to "cut off" a bike that is lane splitting anywhere. Unfortunately for everyone, as your pointing out, there is nothing we can do about these people and they are endangering the lives of bikers (accidentally or purpose).

  • @Zdolshin I hear ya on that one. I would definitely lane split too if it was in heavy Cali traffic and all other vehicles were going less than 5mph. I'm just talking about at these speeds I find it to be a very pointless risk. At 5mph though of course do it, no cars are going to be able to sideswipe you at that speed.
