Looks to me like he got hit with a side wind that threw the plane on its side. As he banked, the side-wind turned into a tail-wind, not allowing him to gain altitude. When he finally came back around he had the speed to climb. Nonetheless, he had to wash his shorts afterwards!

@iudm mate you´ve just ilustrated my point! He´s a professional "pilot" from a public airline, not my kid in his Ferrari toy car "driving" in my living room.
That is pure nonsense and some obvious reckless for his and public safety, and on top the plane that is paid by Portuguese citizens taxes. I don´t wish anyone harm, but for the sake of everybody's safety I do hope he got fired.
Put him behind a desk, it´ll be less of a risk to all of us.

This is pure stupidity and I truly hope this guy (not calling him a pilot) got fired as soon as he landed the plane. There should not be a single second to show off when you are responsible for human lives, even it it is "only" your own.

More and more passengers are demanding this kind of excitement for their airline dollar. Its called adding value, and good pilots are willing to give the passengers what they ask for. Job well done!!!!!
