@Mjolbaggar He took a lot of punches on purpose, he wanted to prove he was tough enough to take a beating and still stand as well as use defense. Not sure how you say the man had poor defense though.

@Mjolbaggar I'm not going to take anything away from Pep but he was a featherweight, he didn't fight people that could break your ribs. Ali in his prime was a great defensive fighter, he was hardly touched. Any expert I have heard talk aobut Ali says he was one of the great defensive fighters, do you have any proof other than how he turned out when he was 60?

@adrenacrumb Wille Pep had over 200 fights and fought the best of his devision and he was in top shape untill the day he died. When I rate a boxers skill i rate his Offense, defense, heart and chin. Ali had everything exept defense.

@Mjolbaggar Well if he had bad defense and made lots of mistakes he must be the most fucking amazing boxing ever because he still beat everyone. You spend 20 years in the ring with the hardest punchers in history there is only so much defense you can put up guy.
