No, they were probably itching for a reason to use it again. Also, this was the height of the Cold War. Given the milieu they were in, I can believe that in their paranoia they considered nuking Egypt.

We felt safe, trusted them. We saved their asses in WWII and helped provide them with a State they couldn't provide on their own. Naturally we trusted them. But they attacked us on purpose.
