This points out why government spending is inherently bad.
Why should an individual or groups rights suddenly be lost by receiving money from a government who took it from them previously by force?
-
@AndrewRayGorman I'm sure Mcdonalds, Best Buy, ect... pay property taxes, the government does a lot of things with my (parents) tax money that I am against. My parents have no say where the money ultimately goes, I think this is similar to the problem in your video.

@funkymonkeytheist From what I can tell, most corporations do not pay taxes, and not to mention they do not represent people. Especially if those people who own stock are not even residents of the area.
-
(my other account) Public institutions should not have any political views, though. Colleges are a wealthy mix of ideals, although if it was private, then perhaps there would be little contention. I disagree, I think if the money trails are followed, everything makes sense.

@funkymonkeytheist Local buisnesses also pay property taxes that go into public universities and then there are also corprate taxes. Why should public employee unions which are ultimately funded through taxing use that money to help get candidates elected?
-
@gormanilius Institutions could and should buy products from buisnesses with the same pollitical views, perhaps even making the buisness they dissagree with change their stance. The rising price of tuition can hardly be the sole result of buying products like toilet paper and cleaning equipment.

I made a slight mistake by exempting Dues, because even those are taxpayer funded. The only thing the Union actually owns is the capital gained by investing done through their pension fund.
Fun Fact: the Wisconsin Union protesting the Koch brothers actually has some of the pension funds invested with them. 5mil out of 18bil, which is chicken feeed, but still hilarious.

I have a choice whether or not I want to support a specific Company or Product. I have no choice but to pay my taxes.

Are you aware that the same example you used for Corporations applies to Unions, except worse. Aside from the dues collected from the actual members EVERY CENT the Public Union has is taxpayer money.
I pay taxes, which fund teachers and government workers some are Unionized. The majority of their donations go to Democrat candidates, people I don't agree with.
I don't think Corporations or Unions should be allowed to donate, moreover I don't think there should be Public Unions at all.

thumbs up for posting a video reply
i see your points but i just don't find these "problems" to be an issue
the unions decisions would represent the majority. yes there would be those that disagree but that doesn't flaw the system in any way. the same way you may pay your taxes to a government you don't support. majority rules.

@maritimetimes Institutions purchasing products that will earn capital for industries who promote candidates that reduce the original institutions budget and employees. Yes, it is an issue for those attending college, and those working at college, as an example. Tuition goes higher and higher, and we essentially are paying more for less. I find that to be a pretty 'big' issue.
