@Siegetower that is a gross oversimplification, obviously CO2 is essential for plants however once you increase its concentration in the atmosphere it can impact plants differently. C3 plants cope a lot better with increased CO2 and a lot of them are weeds. C4 plants do not thrive as well under it.

1st point, Even if you believe in climate change. Why is more goverment the answer? When has the goverment ever manged something effectively? Including taxes. Any climate taxes they collect will not be spent effectively. A private group does so much better.
2nd point, is this not a morality tax? A government deciding what is evil and what is righteous throw the tax code.

@doyouwannit Something is a resource only when our technology and markets realise we can determine a useful purpose for something. Before the industrial revolution the world's resources of rubber was almost at 0, there were rubber trees but no uses for rubber. Oil was not thought of as a resource until the automotive industry realised how useful it was - before that it was considered a natural waste product. In future there will be resources we cannot consider - we cant imagine what they are

Carbon dioxide is plant food. The leftoid politicians in Oz talks about "pricing pollution" yet they are talking about plant food. Not CO, NOx, methane, oxides of mercury etc. Carbon pollution? Nonsense.
