How to make a Regency bonnet

A quick tutorial on how to make a simple Regency poke bonnet with a glue gun and some inexpensive craft items. Please try to ignore that I sound like I have no personality, my many gaffs, and the many times I say "Um".

I mean when you fold your cloth lengthwise, you will sew the two short ends together to make a tube. Don't sew all the way to the end when sewing the short ends together. Leave about a quarter of an inch unstitched on the side where the fabric was folded. That will give you a channel to thread your string through to gather the top closed. If you need a drawing let me know, I'll do that and email it to you.

I am still a bit confused about making the capote. You say not to make a course to run the ribbon through for the gather, but do not really make clear how one should do this. How do I make sure the ribbon will stay in place?
