Master Mitchell, 7th Dan and Vice President of the American Tang Soo Do Association, performing O Sip Sa Bo at the ATA Summer Camp, July 11, 2008, Sandwich, MA.
Nah her certificate said Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwon and dont try to say they're two different things. Cause Ki Whang Kim was GM of TKD TSD MDK. He was the highest ranking Korean in the States and one of the highest in Korea.
I understand what you are saying tho. There're just too many damn different organizations out here with the same name.
I mean shit, there are 4 different styles of TAEKWONDO!!! What kinda shit is that?
Despite the bad music playing in the background, I managed to hear whom I believe is Richard Byrne on the microphone referring to O Sip Sa Bo as a “seldom seen form.” In reality this form isn’t that seldom seen. O Sip Sa Bo is the Tang Soo Do version of the Japanese form Gojushiho, specifically Gojushiho-Dai found in Shotokan, Shorin-ryu, Shito-ryu, and a few other Japanese/Okinawan styles.
@Kinghercules Maybe their organization was unaware that there was another woman who also held a 7th Dan in TSD. Often time’s people tend to only concentrate on their organization and don’t know the rankings others.
I goggled Master Byrd and can’t find much info on her, and what info I did find refers to her being a TKD stylist. I even found a student of hers that refers to herself as a TKD stylist. Master Byrd is even in the TKD Hall Of Fame. You sure she's not a 7th Dan in TKD and not TSD?
Marcella Byrd is a 7th dan too and she got that back in '98 from Henry Cho and she was trained by Ki Whang Kim. So how is this woman the hightest ranking!!!
@barrettokarate
You're right this form is not REAR.
Sa Bang Kwon is rear and seldom seen.
