Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra

Alois Melichar - Conductor
Paul Spörri - Trumpet

This is the first known recording of the second Brandenburg Concerto where the trumpet is played in the correct octave.

It predates George Eskdale's more famous recording by five years.

  • My error there, it did go through my head but I was too busy looking for a picture of the trumpet player on the recording.

  • One of these pictures confuses me: Is J.S. Bach the same person as Vincent Bach?

  • i needed this for my music memory = im in 6th grade

  • Thanks for this

  • Great video... amazing recording... However, to correct one thing; this concerto was not written with Gottfried Reiche in mind actually. The Brandenburg Concerti were presented to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721. Bach, didn't meet Reiche until he after moved to Leipzig, which at it's EARLIEST could have been 1724. At any rate, thanks for the great recording... always fun to listen to these old gems!
