Hannah Fraser is a professional mermaid, who creates her own functional yet highly exquisite artistic mermaid tails. Her passion began at an early age when she created her first tail at age 9, and she is rumoured to be the first freelance professional mermaid in the world. Working in film and television for many years, Hannah's speciality has evolved into underwater mermaid performance. She has featured in short films, music videos, advertising campaigns, photo shoots, environmental docos, large scale events, aquariums, and parties around the globe. She recently appeared in the Oscar award winning film, 'The Cove', and stars in an upcoming tv special risking her life to swim with Great White Sharks! Hannah has trained to hold her breath for minutes at a time and can swim to depths of over 30 feet. A passionate environmentalist, Hannah has also traveled the world speaking at events and conventions about her experiences swimming with great white sharks, humpback whales, seals, dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and other marine life to inspire people to conserve the Ocean environment.

  • HI Mesbasha, THanks so much for the compliments. As for a vertical shark fin, the human body is not made to move that way. Our knees done bend side to side like a sharks tail. In fact, some special fx people tried to make a mermaid shark tail for the first Pirates of the Caribbean film, and didnt even realise until they had made these expensive fins, that there is no way for the human body to propel forwards in the water with a vertical fin! Apparently it just didnt work and they had to CGI it.

  • Have you ever encountered any Ocean Predators like sharks, eels, stingrays e.g

  • @pokie4life

I have swum with great white sharks, whales, dolphins, manta rays, sting rays, turtles, seals, and a wide variety of other sea life

  • I'm not sure if you've answered this question before, but I'm curious: when you do these dives, do you have someone carry a breathing apparatus for you, should you need a breath, or do you surface each time?

You look so comfortable and sure under the water, I was just wondering how you dealt with that annoying human need to breathe ;)

Also, I really like the music selections on your videos. The tone is perfect :)

  • @kitkattcassy

If I am diving around 5 mts I just free dive, and if I am going deep like 35 mts of course I have to work with a scuba guy who has an air tank that I can come to when I need to breathe :)

  • I had a weird dream that i was swimming in the ocean with Hannah Fraser and everything was going fine until we came across a real mermaid then, Hannah freaked out and swam away, left me alone, so know iv been wondering Hannah; what would you do if you ever came across a mermaid on your travels? would you leave her alone, freak out or embrace the mermaid and swim by her side. I know its silly but since that dream im curious lol :D btw love everything you do for the ocean life your amazing

  • @SwanSisters You can always make your own with swimming fabric :]
