It was familiar landscape as Peoples Postcode Lottery Street Prize Presenter and radio DJ Judie McCourt arrived in Rotherham this week, as the lucky town had just won the charity lotterys weekly £25,000 Street Prize- after having already won a mere month before!

So Rotherham was celebrating for the second time this summer with Roughwood Road resident Herbert Fereday picking up a whopping £25,000 cheque and 18 other residents in the postcode sector S61 4 also cashing in on prizes.

The semi-retired 62 year old thought his friends were playing a prank on him and couldnt believe his eyes when Judie revealed his £25,000 cheque. My wife and I are ecstatic he said We share everything,so this will definitely come in handy

And while his friends have nicknamed him Jammy after his win, its Herbert whos having the last laugh Youve got to be in it to win it! he exclaimed, And now I can treat my children and grandchildren But most of all Herbert is looking forward to splashing the cash on a 40th anniversary cruise with his wife, upgrading their suite, ensuring they have first class flights and buying his beloved lots more cocktail dresses!

And it seems Herbert is on a winning streak, as hed just won money from a local hospice lottery also. Explaining the pull of the Peoples Postcode Lottery, Herbert explained the charity aspect of the lottery is such a positive thing- not only does it give me the chance of winning but the charities win every single time. And thats why I play.

Herberts right- as the Norths own charity lottery, 40p from each Peoples Postcode Lottery ticket goes direct to local charities. Thanks to players, over £2 million has been raised for charities, such as local Yorkshire Wildlife Trust reserve Woodhouse Washlands, a great place for butterfly spotting!
