PTSD almost completely destroyed me, to this day i have to walk around with a fake smile because i feel that if i dont, the world will look down on me, i cant feel anything anymore, i am completely numb emotionally and spiritually, i cant feel love, hate, sadness, or happyness, just a permanent state of neutrality

Mike Enright has tapped into the soul of war and how war eats the souls of soldiers. I suggest that everyone open their email contact list and send this link to anyone they know who has been affected by war. It may be an alarm clock to wake those of us paying those high gas prices. Perhaps we'll see that human lives are part of what we are pumping into our tanks.

I agree with "Benedets". Their is no quick fix for the vets. People are always trying and able to find a quick fix for the war they are at with themselves, but don't appreciate the fact that there is no quick fix for the vets. So it is very important to bring healing through forgiveness. Benjamin Duffy

There are no quick fixes to the problem. However, if one reads American history, it is clear that since the founding of our country the treatment of Veterans (especially those injured mentally, physically and emotionally) has been disappointing. Books and films like those cited here give us some hope that some people are motivated to help. Hopefully their words will reach those in government with the power to help.

This movie and the book that inspired it, Larry Winters' The Making and Un-Making of a Marine, teaches us a powerful lesson. We can't escape the war. We can't escape what we've done to ourselves, our communities and our children. But even if you haven't experienced a war yourself, we've all been at war on the inside. And it's our responsibility to bring healing through forgiveness. Thanks to all those with the courage to tell their stories.

Well said. I think it's also a powerful message the young people like Mike Enright are so moved by Larry Winters' book to create this moving piece of film. It gives us hope that our returned and returning warriors will not be abandoned.
