This song broke my heart bc it was so heartfelt. He says "the dream is over" And i thought he meant his dream of peace but he means the beatles. Such a good song.

I am sure that John Lennon uses this expression with a double meaning - both kinks and kings. Beatles, Elvis, Bob Dylan and ...Kinks with a double meaning.
"I don't believe in kings" doesn't really make any sense!

Kings makes perfect sense. If you look up the lyrics none of them say Kinks. No big deal dude, cool video keep up the good work.....and good morning from San Francisco.............I'm off to work........

Just arrieved from work.....Aarhus, Denmark, Europe...
Of course you're right. But "kings" is placed in a series of musicians. Bob Dylan is refered to as Zimmerman. This a play with words and double meanings.
While Hitler, Jesus, Kennydy Budda ... represent some kind of ideology, kings don't. As well as Elvis, Dylan and Beatles don't!
