  • Rather an interesting perspective when considering how truly exotic this technology would have been when Ian Fleming wrote about James Bond's first use of such gear in 1953 for his novel, "Live and Let Die."

  • oh man this brings back memories, I was entranced when I saw his films as a boy O.O

  • @rrmoh people often forget how France was effected by WW1...

  • @MyMerlin1 Maybe you can't read, but the title does say "First tests of the Aqua Lung", which refers to an open-circuit SCUBA which was developed by Emile Gagnan and Jacques-Yves Cousteau in 1943. Other gear was invented before this, the rebreather, and yes it was by Cornelius, but he was Dutch. Sorry.

  • what about the god damn war going on?.. oh yea.. the french already gave up

  • Dude, you should start accepting that British people haven't invented everything!

  • tragic how dive tables were verified.

  • Scuba gear was invented by the British back in 1620 by Englishman Cornelius Drebbel. Cousteau was born 1910.

  • They got narced a lot according to a biography I read.

  • By this time people knew about the bends and what caused them.
