Using simple fabric paints and cotton warp yarn, create and design warp patterns directly onto the Schacht Flip rigid heddle loom. Use the idea for direct warp painting as a jumping off point-- use thickened fiber reactive dyes, soy wax as a resist and dye the woven fabric (the waxed portion will remain undyed in the pattern prior to removal), stamping, 2 heddles for fine yarns and detailed designs, paint over handdyed multicolor warps for even more variety. Or, just set up the loom as described for a fun weaving project for both adults and kids.

  • Wow, you made it seem so easy. I have some of the paints and never thought of warp painting. Love the blow dryer idea, too. Thanks for sharing. One more to do on my list. LOOOOONg list :-)
