Interesting that after listening to Gordon Jump and others refer to "Chief of Police" Tinkler, Jessica asks Benson to get "the Sheriff" a glass of milk.

I come from a law enforcement family. Notice Tinkler is wearing a typical police badge ( a Sheriff usually wears a star shaped badge) also his shoulder patch reads "Police". A Chief is usually appointed by the city or town council (or mayor) and a Sheriff is elected by the voters of the county. Of course our law enforcement is mostly taken from England's own Robert Peeler.
