You had to have been there...Jingle Dingle, the character on the right, was a franchised character who thus appeared on other stations around the country, looking the same but sounding different, since he would presumably appear with the voice of the local host.
Interesting comment from sandysoup regarding the franchise of Jingle Dingle. I had a childrens book with Dingle cutout glued on a page with a small square of foam in between which let the reader give it a twist and it would snap back. I didn't realize how popular the character was.
