Here is a video of my VY II HSV Maloo driving around with the 6000rpm 8" stall with NO lock-up clutch.

In this video, the car is bolt-on mods only. That is:
1-5/8" Tri-Y headers, cats, twin 2.5" exhaust, OTR, mafless tune, 25% UDP, 80mm TB, 3.91 diff gears, 918 valve springs, 19" street tyres...

I took this video to show how easy a car is to drive with a large converter... people said that this car would be a nightmare on the street, totally undriveable... an animal in the wet AND the dry... but as you can see in this video, once you know how to drive smoothly and in a controlled manner, there is nothing wrong with a huge converter...

The stall was built for another car which had a 244/248 cam, CNC'd Dart heads, Fast 90/90, big exhaust, 4.11's... on that package it flashed to 6000rpm quite happily... in my car with a lot less HP it cannot flash all the way to 5k... but you can see how it works in my other In-Car drag vids...
this is just to show daily driving type usage to see what it behaves like in the city and on the open road...

Please excuse the diff whine... i don't know why the sound is so amplified but it's pretty bad... in the car - not so bad...
And sorry for the poor quality sound... This vid has been shrunk quite a lot to make the upload time a bit shorter...

Thanks for watching... any questions, leave a comment :)

  • I have a question, why would you modify an aussie car to start with? i have a VS V8 commodore & the piece of shit is always letting me down and i don't thrash it i've only have tried to maintain it in the 5 years i've owned it. Been constantly let down by the fucker and i reckon once yours has done a few K's will be the same. I personally don't give a fuck bout Holden or Ford they're both built with cheap parts and have a very limited lifespan. they're shitboxes

  • @1980andyw You're probably right... It only has 71,000kms on it at the moment but time will tell how it survives...

But, in the time I've had it (4 years) it's been a much more reliable car than my two previous VS commodores, and the Subaru WRX I had for a while.

The only major problem I've had with it was repaired under the new car warranty. Since then, 250 trips down the drags, a lot of cruising and some hard treatment and it's still going great...

Proper servicing and maintenance helps though

  • @1980andyw 4.0 sohc's go forever

  • @TheZHLANE spot on...!!!......... you can't go past that wild engine for power.

  • @dwaynE2099 total powerhouses aye, mentioned it because that muppet said they have a very limited lifespan when there are heaps that have surpased 1million km's.

  • @TheZHLANE youtube is full of muppets!!!!!

  • sounds good but 6000rpm stall bit high for around town but yea its your car.

    ps. like the vy shape

  • It's an auto =(

  • @hyowatha Yes i have maintained it but i guess you never know how the previous owner treated it. The newer models are probably better they've had more money spent on durability testing.

  • @1980andyw Did you actually take care of it and service it? And the new holdens have american motors anyways
