Dr. James L. Campbell Jr., MD discusses Pityriasis Rosea Treatment. See more at http://www.dermnet.com PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT!!!
Pityriasis rosea is self-limited and usually asymptomatic. Treatment is indicated for itching. Mentholated lotions (Sarna) or sprays (Eucerin Anti-Itch) are helpful. Group V topical steroids
and oral antihistamines provide some relief.
Prednisone (20 mg twice a day) is rarely needed and only in extensive cases with itching that is refractory to topical therapy. Ultraviolet B light,
either from natural sunlight or administered in metered doses by a dermatologist, hastens resolution.
