About Foster the People I was disturbed when I heard a Pearl Jam alb from 1991 and what came to mind hearing Jeremy was Columbine High School. That was the connection when Jeremy was bullied by classmates. If you ever saw te music video you see connections to these people who were pushed too far until they finally snapped.

I just read an interview,and Mark said that the song isnt about a mass killing. Its about a kid with a troubled life and the fantasies of revenge he has. "Notice that he never commits the crime." Its mostly metaphorically according to Mark,and he gets really frustrated when having to explain the comparisons. Its a song to bring awareness to bullying and isolation.
