  • I really with the U.S. Navy would reconsider and install this gun on the F-35C. It's my opinion they omitted it so the F-35 wouldn't compete with their F-18E/F's but it's a poor decision in my view. Remember the F-4 Phantoms in Vietnam that wished they had a gun when enemy MiG's closed within sidewinder range, or the F-4's ran out of missiles or they just didn't work? The AIM-9X sidewinder and the AIM-120 AMRAAM are great missiles but their not perfect, sometimes you need a gun.

  • @FlightDreamz there will be an external gun pod version for the C and B, don't think it will be as effective though.

  • @echo34 it wont be and will not be installed, external gun will defeat the purpose of the stealth, in any potential air threats it will fly in stealth mode. I guess its just meant to be a ground pound gun.

  • @echo34 Wait so this is only on the F-35 A? How is the dumbass who came up with that idea?!

  • @k2477456 Only the USAF F-35A has an internal gun. The F-35B and Navy's F-35C have no internal gun - have to carry an external gun pod.

  • eats sukhoi for breakfast and mikoyan for lunch...

  • Dear Santa...

  • @FlightDreamz they took the fucking gun off!?

  • just fuck

  • @FlightDreamz And then you have the ground support role as well, nothing beats knowing that you can strafe targets in support of ground troops.

  • @echo34 agreed, it probably isn't even connected to a lead computing gun sight. A gun is required 100 of the time. it took the designers till the E model of the F-4 Phantom to figure it out in nam.

  • Navy are absolutely impossible to work with when it comes to the F-35... they complain about everything.
