http://www.ted.com The recent generations have been bathed in connecting technology from birth, says futurist Don Tapscott, and as a result the world is transforming into one that is far more open and transparent. In this inspiring talk, he lists the four core principles that show how this open world can be a far better place.

TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate

Too bad he emphasized on the incentive that "being virtuous brings more money".

Here's some wisdom for you: money is raw power, equivalent to the power of a politician. With a lot of money you can influence the world, by using it to accelerate the development of the areas you are interested in. Now who gets big amounts of money? Do we elect them? Are they the wisest people on Earth? No, really wise people don't seek, nor are given the money. We are governed by the greedy. I hope it ends someday.

Brilliant. We are seeing the beginning of real change in the world. It's nice to have people who can lay it out, so that its easy for everyone to understand. I am excited for my son and his future.

Very lucid and well-considered principles. Of course, these are ideals with a moral application. Datamiam is correct in saying that money equals power, but Tapscott is also correct in saying that virtuous behavior brings wealth. They are two sides of the same concept. Both of you are making essentially the same observation with different moral conclusions.Hmm, reminds me of the Malthus debate. To me, these are all observable results of known quantities. Science rules!

I highly doubt that capitalism will disappear without a fight. I don't think any economic system has been replaced without a violent revolution, and a violent revolution in the most advanced countries is very unlikely.

I highly doubt that. I think certain forms of intellectual property infringements will eventually be allowed but getting rid of the concept of IP as a whole? Forget about it.

But on the flip side, information held by governments and corporations is being leaked to the public at an increasing rate.
