Lost History-Tarot Cards

@Wyrdmaven You're speaking of the game as if it were past tense. Tarot games are still played today in European countries. It is especially popular in France. Tarot did not evolve in a linear direction. Occult or divinatory Tarot, while it might be the most known, is only one branch of it. The games are another which continue to be played and the internet is slowly exposing more people to them.

While tarot cards were not created to convey occult meanings, they can, of course, be used to do so - and indeed, the veracity of those meanings is independent of the origin of tarot.
However, that veracity and the efficacy of divination remain unsupported by evidence and are often contrary to reason.
Also, by adopting the cards for esoteric purpose and by promoting a false history, occultists are both lying and committing nothing short of cultural vandalism. It is right to fight that!

@alonsovelasquez2 Should you ever decide to make such a video, please send me a link; I'd love to watch it.

@Tigerpaws9097826 I keep searching, but all I find is videos 1) like this, with no bibliographical references, and made by people that disregard tarot in the first place, or 2) made by fortune tellers interested in "proving" connections with ancestral cultures or rites. Maybe i should make one ;).

@alonsovelasquez2 To respond properly I'd need to re-watch the video, which I'm short of time to do at the moment; it's been months since I viewed this. However, what I recall was a presentation that seemed fact-based regarding historic roots of the Tarot; I don't recall mention either way about the Tarot's archetypal value, and at least upon first viewing didn't walk away feeling like it had been refuted. If you know a source with a better review of Tarot history, I'd welcome hearing of it!

@Tigerpaws9097826 I fail to see the objectiveness. I only see an interest in making look tarot as a ridiculous practice. Serious tarot specialist could easily tell you this facts with far more accuracy without letting aside all the archetypal value you can find in these images. I agree we must fight false history and conners. The video doesn't show any sources and that's because it was a web based research. how trusthworthy can that be?

@mymusicvideosx Believe what you will, but I have used Tarot numerous times for the purpose of fortune telling. Many times not even knowing anything about the person to whom I was reading their fortunes and everytime they have said that the cards hit spot on.

I agree with you and thanks for the history. :)

Exactly how did Chinese playing cards make their way from China to Muslim Spain? That is a rather large gap.

Regardless of where they came from, tarot speaks to us right now, today. Opening your consciousness to a story that comes from the images. Thanks for a great video.
What is the song for the soundtrack to this video called? It's pretty cool. I described as a spy movie soundtrack to people but I don't know for sure. Bah-ha-ha!
Really though, this was a great video. Hope you don't mind but I included it in one of my web pages about Tarot. :D
