He was so hurt when she said no but she made the right decision - neither of them was ready - although he certainly seemed very eager!! :) Scary thought: Instead of Martha we have Donna back in the early 1900's, meeting Shakespeare and facing up to The Master. Now that I would love to see!!!

But I think she was right to do that. If she had said yes right away it just would have been to replace Rose, like Martha did to some extent. He needed sometime to heal before taking a new companion, so it wasn't just that the new one was filling the hole in his heart, but finding a home is his other one.
Sorry for the poetic analogy, I think in images and this is just what I see. :P
