Ted Widmer is the director of the C. V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience at Washington College, where he explores the early republic, the rise of democracy, and the ways in which the founding era continues to shape American culture. Widmer was a senior adviser to President Clinton and director of speechwriting at the National Security Council. His latest book is Martin Van Buren, a new biography of the first party boss.

listen to the audio on the website...this guy has Van Buren all wrong; saying his Presidency is one of the worst in history...these are the morons that write our history books for todays kids to grow up touting Lincoln / FDR and JFK as Gods....pathetic.
