  • We need more of this kind of thing--experts in the field explaining in clear language what it is they do and the significance of their work, accessible to all. Kudos all round.

  • You should really take a biology course, DNA is reliant on it's physical form to determine what proteins it forms. In biochemistry, form determines function. There is nothing arbitrary or subjective about DNA. Information by your definition does not exist in DNA, DNA is governed by unbreakable physical laws, not syntax. DNA is a biological cipher, an algorithm thats meaning is tied to physics.

  • @Mr88playmaker in no way did he mean God though.

  • You are a lunatic. Try getting the shapes / patterns on your couch or pajamas to function as a computer program for the creation and governance of biological life. language and information originate in a mind and DNA code is language and information. DNA code is a computing program. The cell is a computing mechanism. It's exactly like computer + software. Code requires meaning and intent and DNA code is CODE.

  • Language is arbitrary. Try writing a book with base pairs. Base pairs' information is tied to it's physical form, not an arbitrary meaning imposed by a mind. Try shaping atoms into english letters and see if it affects the object. With language, the shape determines the meaning. With DNA, the physical properties determine the physical form. There is no language in DNA, it's a naturally occurring algorithm.

  • DNA code is empirical proof that biological life forms are a creative product of information and language. i.e.: Nous / Logos (Einstein called this: "The MIND of GOD").
