@trina1126 The San Joaquin valley is not named after Joaquin Murrieta it is named after SAN JOAQUIN or in English SAINT JOACHIM who was the father of Mary, the mother of Jesus!

Lynchburg tx, is named after Nathaniel lynch. Who founded the town by having a ferry there called lynch's ferry. Not for any reason other than that. But thats not saying I don't respect this guy or poem. Its moving and its very true things that happened in the past were both profound and terrible. Just saying

There's a Lynchburg in Virginia too...I flinch everytime I hear the name slip between someone's lips. It's a shameful day when it's 2009 and we still gotta see, hear of, or associate ourselves with Lynch-ANYTHING.
obviously, that's not the only thing i got from his piece. it was breathtaking and admirable. and it's a shame that THESE aren't the stories we get to hear about in our history classes.
