PrairieWinds ND 1 dedication

The largest wind project owned solely by a cooperative was dedicated June 17. The ceremony for Basin Electric's PrairieWinds ND 1 projects, all 80 turbines, was held June 17 at 2:30 p.m. about 15 miles south of Minot, ND, in the operations and maintenance building, three miles south and two miles east of the junction of U.S. Hwy 83 and N.D. Hwy 23.

North Dakota Governor John Hoeven and representatives from Basin Electric, Verendrye Electric and Ward County provided remarks during the ceremony.

Construction started on the project in August 2009 and the turbines began commercial operation in the remaining hours of 2009.
