  • The nord stage is a different beast action whise, action whise all the rhodes are very different so if close to any it is the Mark 7 which has without competition the best action.

    Chords, chords //: Cm7 /abmaj7/ Gm7/% ://

  • Tomato tomato.....I've never heard them but they must be good. Tried to find them but found a band called Deodato via spotify, I suppose it's him you mean???

Deodato was nice Super strut sounds just like the verse in cosmic girl by Jamiroquai-hmm 1973.

  • If you can find one...get a Samson WY Frequency Booster for the Mk I. It's a battery powered active preamp...kind of like the old Dyno-My-Piano preamp...only not as expensive. It really expands the tonality of the piano..better lows and biting highs. I played on the road 5-6 nights per week and a battery would last about 30 days. of course you have o unplug the patch cord so it turns off the battery flow. But they sound great.

  • @Keyboardman88

    Will look into that

  • looking into buying one of the classic ep's. how would you compare a wurly with the rhodes family?

  • It's a different instrument to a rhodes, rounder sound.

I don't have a wurly ..... actually thinking of buying one.

Try one out and listen to some recordings with wurlitzer and rhodes to see what you like. .

  • It's a toss-up between the Mark I and II. Maybe a slight edge to the Mark II, which had the warmest, fattest tone. I would place the Nord in third place, followed by the Mark 7, which was easily the worst sounding of these instruments.

  • very nice demo,

    how were the pianos recorded?

  • Mark I and II had an amazing sound here.

Mark 7? Very weak, and numerous problems with that sound. I'm surprised at how bad it is.

Nord......LOL......decent enough for live use with a really loud band.

  • what is by your opinion "worst" sounding, because i have an option to buy mark II , in like new condition (for a very fair price - 250 euros), but it kinda sounds a bit thin . . . Thanks man for a great demo

  • i like the lick in 6:44 ! =)

i think the mark I is the best! :) but it is such difficult to get it! :(

  • GROSO!!! =)

  • Your video is VERY interesting !!! Many thanks for sharing !! What the keyboard do you prefer ? Well, I've bought a new Rhodes Mark and I'm VERY DESAPPOINTED ! My dream became a nightmare ! Over n° 51 B note, sound is perfect : i can fell the hammer and notes get "Brillance" exellent metallic sound. But under n° 51 B note, sound is not good AT ALL; exactly like simple synthetiser. VERY DESAPPOINTED! A SHAME !!

  • hey man! great playing ... bought the korg sv1 73 a couple of months ago, but it still does not have the rhodes feel, depth and warmth (even after tweaking/editing with different soundpacks) .... have my eyes fixed on a mark 7 active ... any tips? or maybe experiences with the korg sv 1? nice playing btw... that room is a damn playground :-p

  • In order of greatness of tone, the Mark II, the Nord, the Mark 7 the Mark I
