1999 Chevy Venture scanner won't work when I scanned it 2 weeks ago. The engine runs good all the time and there's no performance problem. The vehicle driver reported that sometimes the door locks would activate by themselves while driving. I would check this 1999 Chevy Venture scanner won't work problem by tracing the engine ground wires.
This can be done by getting hold of the engine wiring diagram. From my experience, most of this Chevy Venture scanner won't work problem comes from corroded ground connections to the ecm (engine computer) terminals. This can be tested by wiggling the wires while the engine is running or physically testing the ground voltage readings after the engine has cooled down.
Tip for 1999 Chevy Venture scanner won't work:
With door locks activating by themselves, the BCM module should be disconnected and if the scanner will restore communication, the BCM module is defective.

There is a 20 amp fuse that that runs through that's probably blown, I cant remember the exact one, but I just had the same problem in my 04 a couple days ago. As soon as I replaced the bad fuse the scanner worked fine.

@Tectron1 Hi Buddy, I can probably find the fuse location if you email me at my ATS website. I have the same feeling a fuse has blown that is why it is acting up. This problem is very common.
