I was awake at about 4:45am.on the morning of 9-12-08 due to the fact I was in extreme pain in my lower region.I was watching TV.and talking on the phone as a thunderstorm was rolling in.

All of a sudden I heard a loud crack as the power went out.I jumped, and so did Bailey. It turns out a bolt of lightning did indeed strike the transformer on the power pole outside. There is actually a burn mark on the pole where it hit.

The power company came out about 8 hours later and replaced the transformer.I only wish I had captured the strike on camera.

  • @Shartl9 if u have no internet and ur laptop is alive :b play a good game on it like chess

  • @fury614 me too but i hate power failures 'cause im afraid some naked hooker comes out of the wall and kills me. (IN LIFE, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN) walking in a dark house gives me the creeps. (THAT'S HOW WE ROLL) thunderstorms freak me out. (I HATE LOUD NOISES AND BRIGHT FLASHES WHEN I LEAST EXPECT IT) no TV. (WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE BATTERY-POWERED TV'S?!) no internet. (ME NEEDS MAH INTERNETZ WHEN MAH LAPTOP IS BATTERY-POWERED) power outages suck! (PLZ REPLY)

  • @Nicksolo85 i play my DSI with my tails doll there 2 41ce he is scared of the dark.

  • @fury614 better that than having to listen to the beep or chirping noises of a Smoke Detector that's wired into your home's electricity.

All you hear is "BEEP!" 30 seconds to 5 minutes later "BEEP!"

Sometimes it makes these chirping noises which most often occur about 30 seconds before the power comes back on.

Just do what I do, either turn on a battery powered radio or play a handheld game system (preferably 1 with a light up screen like a Game Boy Advance SP or a Nintendo DS).

  • @Nicksolo85 i hate power outages that are silent <:,(

  • @Nicksolo85 i hate silence in power outages <:,(

  • @MansfieldMan109, it's always good to prepare for something like this, Food, Water, Batteries, First Aid, Sanitation. What kind of flashlight were u using

  • If you like to know, depending on the size of a thunderstorm and how close lightning strikes are from each other, the probability is... well, say there was a thunderstorm with an area of 10 sq. km and a lightning frequency of 10 lightning strikes per hour that lasted for 10 hours moving stationary, that would give you a probability of... almost exactly 1 in 100,000,000 of a power outage in your nearest power line.
