  • Coach Abel,

Does shifting the center of mass forward by elevating the heels change the effect mostly through reducing the stretch on the hamstrings and gastrocs somewhat while leaving the stretch at the hip untouched?

Perhaps I just overly associated heels elevated movements with quad activity from squats, but just trying out a few quick bodyweight good mornings with heels elevated demonstrated what a shift in stress this imparts toward the glute ham tie in.

  • think you answered your own question there mate. Shouldn;t be much "quad activity' in a move executed that way, regardless of heel position

  • FD, well hope you get a lot out of them now. Good movement when done correctly. But like any movement, only as good as the program that contains it.

  • Thanks gentlemen, I was not executing this by sticking the butt back but more of bending forward. Thanks for the clarification and modifications, I look forward to using them this week!

  • Dang! Been doing these wrong all these years. I can't wait to try them this way.

  • Best explanation and demo of this exercise I've ever seen, Scott and Kevin! Now I think I might benefit from this movement!! :D
