@SkiVt5, there are plenty of airports this close or closer to beaches. Most are because of there being no room as it is on an island or next to a cliff-face. People want to get to their paradise and need a plane to go sometimes, so they end up with a short runway right by/on the place they wanna go to. There are usually signs warning the people of the risk, but some idiots want to see how close they can get.
