朱咪咪是馬來西亞怡保人。在馬來半島的華裔, 有超過一半是閩南後裔；新加坡和印尼綿蘭的華裔, 絕大部分亦為閩南後裔。 而所謂台語, 其實就是閩南語(福建話)。東南亞的閩南後裔聽得懂, 也會唱這首母語歌, 是一點也不足為奇的。

Banlamese (Minnan in Mandarin), more commonly referred to as Hokkien, Taiwanese, Holo, or Hoklo. It is understandable that engchoonduck felt that 闽南语 is not fujian or hokkien dialect. In southern China, it is known as 闽南语 while in Taiwan, it is known as the Taiwan language while in South East Asia, it is known as hokkien. Due to the influence of other languages in SEA, the diction and verb, nouns etc used are alien to native 闽南语 speakers.
