Only hours after ousting incumbent Democratic governor Jon Corzine in a hard-fought campaign, Republican Chris Christie made his first appearance as governor-elect in the Democratic stronghold of Newark. Christie, who was born in Newark and served as U.S. Attorney there, visited the Robert Treat Academy, a successful charter school he spoke about frequently during his campaign. Touring the school with its founder, local Democratic power broker Stephen Adubato, Sr., as well as Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Christie said the school was a model to be replicated around the state and pledged to work with Democrats and Republicans to improve urban education. • Why is he talking to nine year olds about forces and politics? Putting propaganda in their brains already....

  • @Hammerlix The tax cuts worked wonders - the liberal policies he passed and the conservative polices that the liberals blocked are what caused the problems.

Namely the energy policy that the liberals blocked, and the liberal policies on housing that Bush and the Democrats worked together on.

  • @ToddAldrich Yeah, LOL!!! Just like the Bush/Cheney Tax Cuts for the rich created so many jobs the numbers actually went backwards. The truth is the wealthy ARE creating jobs... only the jobs they are creating are in China and India where the wealthy can maximize profits.

  • @quinton01 It is because those liberals create dependency and the people in those areas. They are trapped, & cannot see any alternative except the continuation of the very programs that, although they provide a subsistence level life, they also are the source of the problem that keeps them in poverty. Liberals are like drug dealers. They hand out "free" samples and "hook' people on those programs - and just like the junkie who thinks his dealer is his friend, the victims of liberalism do too.

  • @Hammerlix In other words, he is trying to create jobs and STOP the money from fleeting the state.

Heaven forbid he does things that are PROVEN to work.

  • I laughed my ass of at that video of Christie going on night patrol with Booker. Christie looked like he would rather have been anywhere but there. Granted, he probably does think photo ops like that are a waste of his time. But, the fact that Booker is a democrat, and widely expected to be a future opponent for Christie in some capacity probably did not improve his mood.

  • Governor Christie should have a personal meeting with Edward Lawson, so he can get a citizen activist's view of the problems of Newark NJ, and its openly racist gang task force police division. What he sees may horrify him, but it will lead to him being aware of the problem, and thus aware of its solution.

  • yo, moron, do you understand economics? This state is BROKE, what is it about this you don't undrestand. Your issue is not with Christie, its with all the roaring socialists who came before him who kept spending money they did not have. Christie is just the natural end to a dysfunctional process. He is cutting taxes and cutting spending. What's wrong with that?
