your boys should be wearing respirators! i've glassed in the marine industry for a long time and thats a big nono!
on a side note, vacuum bag lamination would take up less space than your big old-school press, and free up space for planing, drilling, or shaping tools. really neat that you're using resin to lam up the blanks, thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, that's great info to have. I'm going to start a wood strip kayak soon and I'll be making it out of redwood mostly. Guess I'll stick with wood glue on that project.
Thanks again, it's nice to know there is a company out there that communicates so well with us common folk! Can't wait to get another bass from y'all, one day...

Manero o corpo do instrumento deve ficar muito legal com tantas laminas. Agora o cara colar com cola epox é uma escalha duvidosa?
We only use epoxy on a few of the wood combinations. Some of the woods (especially Cocobola) just will not work with the other types of glue. We do have good ventilation for the work area. We just like those big old presses....feels kinda medieval.

Very helpful to learn about the glues. I'm going to get epoxy from now on. I'm assuming that our (USA) domestic wood choices are ok to use titebond on?

Cocobola is definitely one to ALWAYS use epoxy. Other oily woods (rosewood, Ebony, etc.) also use epoxy. Some of the soft woods (box Elder, Redwood, etc.) will cause a wider looking glue line, since the epoxy leaches more into the glue joint.

I see that your leaving the tape on the veneers and just gluing them into the body. Are you using a special kind of tape for that or is it just something like painters tape or drafting tape?

Yes, it is painters tape. We hold the two pieces of veneer together while being glued.

I don't know too much about guitar making that's why I am checking this out. My question is that I thought one piece bodys were supposed to be better than layer?

We offer laminated bodies as well as one piece bodies. I would not characterize one as better than the other. There can be very different sounds from different combinations of woods.
