Skiffia multipunctata giving birth.
This is a rare livebearer, this gives birth to large fry as you can see from this clip.
This is similar to guppies and mollies as that it gives birth to its fry but where as common livebearers do not feed the fry as they use the yolk sac, these ave a basic umbilical cord that allows the fry to get nutrition from the mother much like mammals do.

  • i have like 5 of them so why are they rare?

  • They come from Mexico and only from a small area.

Their not like common livebearers you get in pet shop's.

  • Thank you for posting this interesting video. I'm just wondering why the fish gave birth so quickly and seemingly effortlessly; while when human females give birth, it takes hours, even days of labor, and entails much agony.

  • They can take much longer sometimes, but it's but her first and they will usually give birth to 10+ fry every time.

  • @helterskelter50 where did u get urs?

  • @Varvatuli no its not tht its because a womans vagina has to open and dilate completely for the baby's head to come threw... imagine having your skin pulled apart instantly... it would rip and cause bleeding and u would die.... thts y it takes time for the baby to come out... some woman dilate fast others take days

  • image if a human had a baby that big!!zthebaby would be like born a 10 year old size.LOL

  • Yes. I had a guppy that gave birth to 14 HUGE fry once. Only a couple survived due to a parasite, but the rest are now beautiful adults!

  • I asume it's the way our bodies our shaped. I think something about our upright skeletal design makes it harder for us to give birth then another animal like a fish or a dog.

Then again I am no expert on this.

  • Those fry are HUGE!

  • ty so much 4 dat LouisianaGatorGirl culdnt realize it

  • it looks like an original guppy lol (no offence)
