DETROIT, MICH -- With Aretha Franklin in the audience, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, took a moment to sing.

"Chain, chain, chain," sang the Democratic presidential nominee, making a nod to Franklin's 1969 Motown classic. "Chain of fools." It was a rather awful rendition, flat and pitchy, though Obama spokeswoman Linda Douglass insisted it was "on key."

But then, citing Hurricane Gustav, Obama told the crowd that as much as he wanted to talk to them -- particularly about "the contributions of the American worker" -- "I have to change my plans a little bit."

  • Somebody take away his brain bleach! his whole campaign is nothing but lies.

  • "Road to Change" for the worse.

  • Did he say Ron Middlefinger ?

  • OBAMA GOTTA B LIKE THE COOLEST PRESIDENT WE HAVE EVER HAD.... MAN I REALLY HOPE HE WINS THE NEXT ELECTION!!!

  • What a treat! I have liked the President's style from day one of campaigning, but as President, he is still so loose and relaxed-- an illusion (by the graying of his hair), but I do so like his willingness to hold onto himself. How he smiles crooked and kicks his head back always makes me feel good. Being himself in those moments--singing. What a well-rounded man. Too bad he such an idealist inside. That would be good if he had a chain chain chain saw to cut through the Washignton B.S.

  • some of u hate this president simply because he is black and very well educated.any dummy out there with common sense knows the economy took time to get this way, and it wiill take time and hard work from all of us to get it back on track.

  • @pronkking Yes because voting for someone's personality instead of their policies, voting record, and their views and philosophy is relevant.. Please stay home next election unless you're voting for real change this time RON PAUL 2012!

  • @tudisco1718 Stop the hate... it's just sad.
