Gimp Muzzle Flash Tutorial

Making a muzzle flash in gimp, and exporting to png, so it can be used in Jahshaka to overlay on footage

great vid, but when you do the gaussian blur, mine always blurs inwards, not outwards. also you dont give a good description of the value. so please help!!!!!!

@mrmuffins556 Did you remember to unselect before blurring, as that seems to make the blur go in rather than out.

The value is arbitrary, and is more dependent upon the look your after and the size of your flare.

A really high value (>120) if find basically just adds an ill defined glow.

A really low value (<50) will barely be visible from behind your main flare.

I'd say most of the time any value between 80-100 should be fine.
