There's an underlying theme to all of this that I think we're all missing. Just because you get something from the government doesn't mean you're not a taxpayer. Remember that. There's only about 13% of the population living at or below the poverty level. There are 5% making over $250k. 95% of working Americans just got someone else's money in one form or another. 95% Not the poor. They're only 13%. 95%. Not the lazy. They're only 13%. 95%. @brothermikefan So like I said, when has your idea of laissez-faire or Austrian economics ever worked or even been attempted for that matter? It's more of a Utopian idea than socialism to think that there needs to be no authority in the world.

Okay. Now can you find me ONE country that has a totally laissez-faire govt? How about an Anarchy? You guys have a great philosophy in theory but it doesn't always work in practice. There will ALWAYS, ALWAYS be a percentage of poor people at any given time. Taking their food away doesn't always make them work harder. it could just make them die off. Read about how the Irish famine killed 1.5 million people. Some say it was unfair to help them because it took from one person and gave to another.

It will require farmers to take back America and restore it.

Farmers must stop farming.

The inner cities that believe they are in charge of America should be brought down to their knees in hunger as in 1929.

General Welfare should NEVER mean handouts to the poor. The FED GOV simply DOES NOT have the right to TAKE from one, to GIVE to another!! Welfare is racked with fraud and abuse; it's bankrupt; and self-defeating. For every advantage given to one person, a disadvantage is imposed on another. How is the "equality" you're striving for ever reached?! The disadvantage comes in the form of tax burdens, affirmative actions, etc.

@BMF: No one is arguing about better roads, cleaner air/water, safer drugs, etc. The arguments stem from the GOV attempting to socially engineer the country and the citizens into classes of economical equality. Wealth redistribution, under the guise of general welfare, is the mechanism socialists use to TAKE from one to GIVE to another. The NEW DEAL, you love so much, is a perfect example of the GOV's intrusive/unconstitutional ROLE on the union.
