Funny that someone mentioned appreciating this piece since childhood; it captured me also at a very early age.

When I was little I wanted to play the harp, but my parents couldn't afford one. They got me a second-hand piano instead -- and ever since, I lovingly refer to the piano as "a poor man's harp." :)
